The structure is shaped after a leaf affording maximum protection underneath. The secured vault is the core, yet it is clear to the view; awashed with rich light yet humble in its materials; the cross from afar yet present . The curved ceiling with controlled heights project the visitors into a spiritual realm, directing the eye towards the vault, the inclined ‘gisant’ and finally the eye is lead to a cruciform opening that opens to the reintroduced cross in the distance. On the ground our feet toddle on local basalt stones, hopefully donated from across the island. On the roof we have a meadow of individual potted Xerophyte flowers, graciously given again from across the island. The plants serve to soften the contours of the leaf, re-living and relieving the building from the harsh climate. He mingles with the poor, and teaches each and everyone of us irrespective of social status. The prayer hall will be inviting for all; to see, to sit, to stand, to contemplate, to meditate or to pray. We created a procession to connect both visitors and pilgrims alike with the crypt and the surrounding, mingling with meadows, mountain ranges afar and shaded promenade.
